How to Prepare Content for a Desktop Hologram Fan

Prepared by HoloVista 3D · Updated 26 October 2026. Product facts follow our listed supplier catalog configurations; selected revisions and the order confirmation take precedence.

A convincing floating-image effect starts with a clear subject, a dark content background and a compatible file. A rotating LED display does not turn every ordinary video into a three-dimensional object.

How does the effect work?

A rotating arm fitted with RGB LEDs displays synchronized patterns. Persistence of vision lets the viewer perceive a continuous image. Products are often called hologram fans, but they are not laser holography and do not project a solid object into empty air. Content can create depth cues through shading, perspective and motion.

A practical preparation workflow

  1. Confirm the hardware. Ask for the exact model revision, compatible application, accepted formats, canvas dimensions, encoding requirements and transfer method. Do not assume software from another seller is compatible.
  2. Choose one clear subject. Start with a product, logo or short greeting. Keep important features inside the usable display area and avoid small text.
  3. Prepare the background. Use a dark, uncluttered content background so the subject is easier to separate visually. Dark parts of the file do not produce bright LED output.
  4. Build a short, deliberate loop. Use slow movement and a clean start-to-end transition. A complicated scene can be harder to read at desktop scale.
  5. Test on the supplied hardware. Transfer using the confirmed workflow. Check color, crop, orientation, brightness and the viewing angle before preparing a large content library.

Why does the display look different on camera?

Exposure, shutter timing, frame rate, room light and viewing angle all affect a recording of rotating LEDs. A promotional clip is an effect example, not a brightness or resolution measurement. Color grading improves presentation but cannot increase the physical number of LEDs or change the supplied hardware.

What helps in a bright room?

Reduce competing light near the display, choose a calmer background and use an uncluttered high-contrast subject. Check a sample at the intended position before making a purchase decision. These desktop products are not described as direct-sunlight outdoor signage.

What file format should I export?

Confirm supported file types, dimensions and encoding for your selected revision and software. We do not publish a universal codec or upload instruction that could be wrong for a different controller. Send a sample file and ask for compatibility confirmation first.

A safe first setup

Use a stable indoor surface and the confirmed power equipment. Keep the rotating area clear. Disconnect power before moving, cleaning or adjusting the device. Use the model-specific manual for assembly and operation; this guide does not replace it.

Compare P30S and P20S, review placement guidance, or ask us to check your model and sample content.

FROM FILE TO FIRST PLAYBACK

Troubleshoot the presentation.

The subject looks small or cropped.

Check the supported canvas and orientation for the selected controller. Keep the subject inside the usable display area and test on the unit; the rectangular export canvas is not the same as the visible rotating display area.

The floating effect looks weak.

Start with an isolated subject and a dark content background. Reduce visual clutter and competing room light. A simple subject with deliberate motion is easier to judge than a complex ordinary video.

The camera records bands or broken shapes.

A recording of rotating LEDs depends on shutter timing, frame rate and exposure. Check the image in person as well as on camera. Recording artifacts alone do not establish the quality or resolution of the actual unit.

The file will not transfer or play.

Confirm the exact application, file format, encoding and transfer method for the supplied controller. Ask support to review a small sample before batch-exporting; do not assume the workflow from another model applies.

Send this brief before preparing custom content.

  • Exact model and hardware revision.
  • Target message, product or logo and the necessary usage rights.
  • Supported file type, canvas, orientation and encoding confirmed for that unit.
  • Intended viewing distance, room lighting and placement.
  • Sample file for compatibility confirmation and the required project date.

Ask HoloVista to confirm the workflow. Content preparation services and charges are agreed separately.
