Six terms that make the specifications clearer.
Use these definitions when comparing a desktop hologram fan, a gift enclosure or a supplier listing.
- Hologram fan
- A common product name for a rotating RGB LED display that uses persistence of vision to create a floating-image effect. The name does not mean laser holography.
- Display diameter
- The supplier-listed diameter of the display area. It is distinct from the overall body, base, package dimensions and clearance needed around rotating parts.
- RGB LED count
- The number of red-green-blue LED elements specified for a hardware revision. It is not interchangeable with a flat-panel pixel resolution.
- Catalog resolution
- A supplier-specified content or display resolution label. For a rotating display, this should not be interpreted as the physical pixel grid of a conventional monitor.
- Hardware revision
- The particular controller, enclosure, power equipment and electronics supplied under a model name. Similar model names do not prove identical specifications.
- Example content
- A visual used to demonstrate the effect. It does not establish included animations, content licensing, customization services or compatibility with every file.
